Mindfulness and Self-Compassion Workshops

Beautiful Maountains near lake

Sunshine Community Health Center’s Kirsten Strolle, LMSW is offering an online workshop about Mindfulness and Self-Compassion.

Mindfulness is a skill that allows a person to notice and accept their own complex thoughts and feelings with openness and curiosity, including difficult emotions like anger, sadness, frustration, self-doubt, etc. Mindfulness is one of the first steps in emotional healing.

Self-compassion involves responding to these complex thoughts and feelings with kindness, empathy, and understanding, making it possible for people to comfort themselves when they are hurting. Research shows that self-compassion greatly enhances emotional well-being. It reduces anxiety and depression, boosts happiness, and can even give people a boost when maintaining healthy lifestyle habits like diet and exercise. Other benefits include increasing motivation, boosting happiness, enhancing self-worth, and increasing resilience during life’s challenges.

This workshop will contain meditations, cover different topics to enhance mindfulness and self-compassion, discussions, and practice exercises. There are about thirty minutes a day of home practice during the workshop to deepen and strengthen the mindfulness practices and to increase self-compassion.

When: Tuesdays, October 19th – December 7th

Where: Zoom at home or virtually at your local clinic

Potential Benefits: Increasing motivation, boosting happiness, enhancing self-worth, and increasing resilience during life’s challenges.
