Happy Mother's Day

What will you be doing to take care of yourself this Mother’s Day and EVERY day?

Mother’s Day was started in approximately the early 1900s by Anna Jarvis, who wanted to honor her mother after her death in 1905, for the sacrifices that mothers have made for their families.

Health encompasses the physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and environmental health that encompasses mothers. Families make contributions to improving our communities through their children and the demonstration of healthy habits. The health of mothers supports healthier children and communities.

The health of families determines the health of future generations and is important to address in our communities. From the time you become pregnant to your last breath as a mother, grandmother, or other motherly figure, you are integral to the development of healthy cultures.

Do not wait for your family to honor and take care of you! Mothers benefit from advocating for their health needs and teaching their children to do the same. So, on this Mother’s Day and EVERY day, please take care of yourselves. We ALL benefit from your good health and example.

Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers, stepmothers, grandmothers, and all of the motherly figures in our communities.
