Financial Support

We are committed to providing quality care, regardless of your ability to pay.

We accept most insurance carriers, offer a Sliding Fee Scale for qualifying patients, and we have a wonderful team of Care Managers and Patient Advocates with resources to help you.

Funding Community Health

Sunshine Commnity Health Center receives HHS funding and has Federal Public Health Services (PHS) deemed status with respect to certain health or health-related claims, including medical malpractice claims, for itself and its covered individuals.

Insurance & Billing Information

We are in network with Aetna, Blue Cross, Premera, Delta Dental, Alaska Medicaid & Denali Care, Medicare, Multi Plan Network, TriCare, United Health Care, and Veterans Community Care Network.

We will bill out any insurance you provide but it may be considered out of network.

Unfortunately, we are unable to bill out-of-state Medicaid.

What if I don't have insurance?

Sunshine Community Health Center offers a Sliding Fee Scale for patients who do not have insurance coverage. Patients may request an application at the front desk of any Sunshine Community Health Center location, download the application from our website, or schedule an appointment with a Patient Advocate for assistance.

To complete a Sliding Fee Scale application, patients must provide proof of income. Acceptable documentation may include income from the following sources:

  • Wages

  • Self-employment

  • Social Security, retirement, or pensions

  • Unemployment benefits

  • Rental income

  • Dividends, including the Alaska Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD)

  • Child support or spousal support

  • Foster care payments

  • Public assistance

  • Longevity bonus

  • Workers’ compensation benefits

  • Disability benefits

  • Veterans’ benefits

Sunshine Community Health Center works with patients to set up payment plans, allowing balances to be paid off within 12 months. Patients can view billing statements and make payments through the patient portal or contact the billing team at 907-733-2273, ext. 2500 for assistance or questions about their bill.

Families in Crisis Support

Sunshine Community Health Center, in coordination with local community partners, offers Families in Crisis funding to support individuals and families experiencing unexpected hardship in the Trapper Creek, Talkeetna, and Willow communities. You do not need to be an established patient of Sunshine Community Health Center to apply for assistance.

Crisis situations can arise without warning, and the type of support needed may vary. Our goal is to help you navigate the immediate crisis and, when appropriate, connect you with additional resources to support you and your family moving forward.

When you submit the Families in Crisis form, your information goes directly to our Behavioral Health team. A staff member will contact you to learn more about your situation and explore how Families in Crisis funding may help. All information shared is kept confidential and only reviewed by staff with a need to know.

If you prefer to speak with someone directly, please contact Sunshine Community Health Center’s Behavioral Health Department at 907-733-9292.
