Type 2 diabetes is the most common form of diabetes and occurs when the body becomes resistant to insulin or does not produce enough insulin to keep blood sugar levels within a healthy range. Insulin helps move glucose (sugar) from the bloodstream into the body’s cells for energy. When insulin does not work properly, sugar builds up in the blood.
